Valley College of Medical Careers - Surgical Technologist Program (AOS)
The Surgical Technology program at Valley College of Medical Careers is a 1680 hour Associates of Occupational Sciences comprehensive course of study that combines General Education, Theory and Clinical Practice. The course curriculum is designed to provide qualified individuals an opportunity to acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills, which will enable them to become safe and competent practitioners of Surgical Technology. Providing each individual the exciting opportunity to become a professional in the healthcare field. To become certified, VCMC graduates enrolled in the course program must successfully complete the Examination conducted by the National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA) formerly the Liaison Council for Certification of Surgical Technologists (LCC-ST). Completion of the General Education requirements for the AOS Degree program may help students transfer to a higher level of educational experience. With a higher education and experience level, graduates have the potential to advance in their career with higher wages and better benefits. The award of transfer credit is at the discretion of other institutions and is not guaranteed. The program includes a mandatory 600 hour Surgical Technology Externship that must be completed prior to graduation.
VCMC has externships available to gain practical experience in the medical field and help each VCMC student reach their mandatory 600 hours.
VCMC makes it happen, so click or call today and get your future started!
