Valley College of Medical Careers - Medical Billing and Coding Program
VCMC’s Medical Billing and Coding curriculum provides our students the basic knowledge and skills that will qualify them to become an entry-level Medical Biller & Coder, performing the front office medical duties as a clerk working in clinics/hospitals/medical groups.
The program will also provide VCMC students with the ability to be a Health Claim Examiner working with the insurance companies. Students will be exposed to billing forms, eligibility guidelines for CHAMPVA, TRICARE, Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and Workmans’ Compensation and Disability.
VCMC students learn the use of ICD-9 and CPT books for coding diagnoses and procedures. Students will use computers to practice and perform medical billing simulations using Medi-Soft.
The Medical Billing and Coding program (medical biller) at VCMC is designed to teach our students: medical office duties, computer applications, office procedures, insurance coding, business communication skills, job readiness techniques, personal development skills and more.
A Medical Biller & Coder keeps all the administrative responsibilities of the medical employer at the forefront of their objective. This is a great career choice for a person wanting a career in a medical environment. This is an exciting field and has a high demand for more people to be employed in this field.
